Screw clamp for rope DIN 1142

Screw rope clamp DIN 1142 with two hexagonal nuts is used in lifting operations when critical fastening is required: to create loops at the ends of ropes and cables or to connect rope branches. Also, screw clamps can be used to increase the carrying capacity of the sling (for example, if the ring sling is folded in half and fixed with clamps).

Clamps differ in the diameter of the clamped rope.

When installing a loop clamp at the end of a rope, the jumper must be on the load-bearing side of the rope. The clamp's U-bolt is placed on the tail end of the rope (the so-called blind end). It is necessary to bend a sufficiently long part of the rope so that the required number of clamps can be placed.

1. The first clamp should be placed one span width from the bent (blind) end of the rope.

2. The second clamp is placed directly under the thimble, but in such a position that when tightening the clamp, the rope is not damaged. We tighten the nuts tightly, but not completely.

3. We place the subsequent clamps on the rope between the first and the second in such a way that they are separated by a distance of at least 1 clamp width and maximum 3 clamp widths.

4. With the rope slightly taut, tighten all nuts evenly, one at a time until the desired tightening torque is reached.

5. After applying a load or using equipment equipped with clamps for the first time, check the tightness of the clamps and adjust if necessary. Checking and, if necessary, tightening the nuts must be carried out regularly for safe operation.
